Sadly Lowie passed away this morning at 6am.

Lowie had a few goals left he wanted to achive, one of those was to see his grandson be a mascot for the Chelsea game, gladly that one was achieved. 

Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to all Lowies family and close friends.

Rest in peace old mate, today's game is for you.

Let's not forget that Sunderland are the form team at the moment,  on thier current run they would be second in the table,  still I do think our standards slipped last night dramaticaly, making us look almost clueless.

I honestly believe O Neill had us sussed out before a ball was kicked, he got his wide men and full backs to press and press thus denying Naughton and Martin any chance of getting forward.   His midfield simply were quicker sharper and harder than ours.  The defence was really quite good at times, no major gaffs,  the first goal hell there is no defence against them, the second; Martin was the wrong side of Sessegnon in a very good move.  The third well too many gaps. 

It was surprising to see we had more of the ball than Sunderland with more attampts at goal yet I can hardly remember their keeper making more than two saves.   The service to Holt and Morison wasn't there for them to do much with, Hoolahan was far too easily knocked off the ball; plus he gave it away far too many times.  Johnson looked like he was stuck in slow mode for action and thinking. 

I don't know about many people, but for me the diamond has done us proud over the last couple of seasons, but it doesn't  have the same effect in the premier, there really are not many teams that play without wide men; that can stick the ball in the box from the byline, not the middle of the park.

So please Mr Lambert can we leave the diamonds for the jewelers to deal with.

The England Under 21 international’s transfer will go through subject to a medical but he will immediately be loaned back to Posh until the end of the month.

The fee is undisclosed but it is understood to be a Posh record sale, topping the £2.5 million received for Craig Mackail-Smith in the summer.

It may well be a complete and utter load of BS   David McNally has denied the deal..

Of course every player has a price we aren't stupid enough to not know that, so unless Rangers are prepared to offer stupid £millions  Holt will be leading us to premiership Safety.

Why on earth would he want to step down a level, he is after all playing in probably the bestLeague in the world, they could offer European football,  Well that isn't no great shakes either;  they are hardly in the competition longer to know youv'e played in europe.  Why would he want to play against only one other decent side that is any where Rangers, the rest are left in a very two sided shadow.

It isn't going to happen

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "We lost Jonny Howson because it was a good deal for the club and Norwich have probably paid over the odds for a player who was out of contract in a few months` time."

First of all, they may have a element of truth in what they say;   we probably could have got Howson for nowt if we had waited until his contract ended, but then would we have been first in line to get his signature ?   I am convinced that there would have been a host of clubs in the queue, offering him as much if not more to sign .

Now when you look at the average premier league transfer prices;  £2 million doesn't seem like a great amount of money, even with our restrictive budgets.  If Howson adapts to life in the premiership like his fellow team mates have, he could be worth more than double by the end of the season and that is just finanicial worth.

I just cannot see how we have paid over the odds at all ,  I think we have made a very astute signing with so much potenial, plus we got ahead of any rival. 

As I said I feel that Messers Bates and Grayson may have some element of truth in their statements, but without looking at the full picture, which of course they wouldn't.

  But a large amount of what they say is probably no more than trying to deflect the anger and frustration of their supporters away from allowing another family asset to be sold.  By highlighting how good the deal is to the club and justifying their action by saying City paid over the odds in a smirky false sort of way.

A little earlier this month Harry was said to be interested in Anthony Pilkington and was prepared to make a substantial offer for the City wideman, now it is Morison's turn . He had better be quick he has only just over 24 hours to be linked with Holt, Surman, Ruddy, Whitbread, Ayala,Teirney, Bennett, Fox, Hoolahan, Johnson or Naughton , he has probably forgot Naughton is his own player anyway. 

We can expect a very taxing time over the last remaining hours of the window

Ties to played weekend Feb 18/19th

I know I have  moaned about the beeb and Sky especially, but hell fire you cannot fault their coverage,  I would not raise one word against Sky getting the FA Cup. after this dismal showing.. pathetic would be one word I use. 

Why pay all that money, and not do it justice   ?

As we know the ITV network  is made up of Regional stations so then why not allow the individual regions to show better highlights of teams that are based in their regions.  I would have much more interest in watching say Peterborough, Colchester and of course City playing a Cup match than I do Liverpool Chelsea or freakin Man utd.

Come on ITV,  do it justice or hand it over.

Goals from Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson were enough to edge home,  the game was marked by an outstanding debut in goal for Jed Steer.
