Sing Up The River End' was a chant used by the Barclay Boys to get more noise and atmosphere at Carrow Road. Surely they knew people in the River End didn't go to football matches to sing !

City News : Lucky Seven

To help those of you like me who turn up at the start of every season take a look at the team and stand wondering who the heck is who players, with seven (so far) this season I may have my work cut out. 
So here's a little run down on our seven new faces along with an image of each, I am indebited entirley to wikipedia for the knowledge.

Andrew Crofts  (Midfield)
Born 29 May 1984 Height 5ft 9in. Welsh international.He started his career with Gillingham, for whom he made his Football League debut at the age of 16, and made over 190 appearances for the Kent-based club. He had loans at Peterborough United and Wrexham during the 2008–09 season and joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2009. Signed for City on 21 May 2010, for fee believed to be around £300,000.


Andrew Surman.  (Midfield)
Born 20  August 1986) Height 5ft 10in. A South African-born. Born Johannesburg where his  parents had moved whilst his father worked for an insurance company. His parents returned to Southampton in 1995, and he joined Tyro League club Hedge End Rangers, where he was spotted by Southampton scouts and invited to join the Saints academy.  He was the youngest player ever to play for the Saints Reserves until Theo Walcott took his record. He joined Wolves in July 2009 in a deal said to be around £1.2million, signed for City on June 22 2010,for an undisclosed fee.

Elliot Ward (Defender)
Bor n 19 January 1985 in Harrow, Greater London, Height 6 ft 1 in;    Ward came through the youth system of West Ham United, making his debut for the Under-17 side before joining the first team in August 2003. Ward left the East London club in the summer of 2006, joining Coventry City for £1m.He spent loan periods at     → Peterborough United,Bristol Rovers,Plymouth Argyle, Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End. Signed for City on 26 May 2010 on a free transfer.


John Ruddy (Goalkeeper)
Born 24 October 1986 in Cambridgeshire, Height 6ft 4in; Ruddy began his professional career at Cambridge United Having a trial at Manchester United, before moving to Everton in the summer of 2005 for a fee of around £250,000. Finding it difficult to break into Everton's first team, he went on loan to ;  Walsall,Rushden & Diamonds,Chester City, Stockport County  Wrexham, Bristol City,Stockport County, Crewe Alexandra and Motherwell. Signed for City on  5 July 2010 for undisclosed fee.


David Fox  (Midfield)Fox
Born 13 December 1983 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire; Height 5ft 9in. Fox signed a professional contract with Manchester United  in 2000, He was loaned to Shrewsbury and United feeder club Royal Antwerp before signing for Blackpool on a free trasfer in January 2006. He was one of many players not retained by new manager Ian Holloway, soon being signed by Paul Lambert while at Colchester. Scoring on his debut in the infamous 7-1 romp. He signed for City 4 June 2010, in what was seen as a controversial switch after the animosity between the two clubs.


Stephen Smith (Defender)smith
Born 30 August 1985 in Bellshill,  Height 5ft 10in; Having only played for Scottish Giants Glasgow Rangers. He made his debut during November 2004 coming on as a half-time substitute. He went on to win the Scottish Premier League young player of the month for April 2006 which cemented his place as first choice left-back at the club. Injuries limited his appearences at Rangers dropping down the pecking order. Smith signed for City on June 22nd 2010 on a Bosman transfer.



Simeon Jackson (Striker)Jackson
Born 28 March 1987 in Kingston, Jamaica but grew up in Mississauga, Ontario. Height 5ft 8in; Jackson moved to England at the age of 15 living in Croydon with his grandmother. In 2004 he was signed by Rushden & Diamonds, quickly establishing himself as the club's top scorer. In January 2008, he signed with Gillingham, the club who rejected him as a teenager,  for a transfer fee of £150,000 on a three-and-a-half-year contract. Signed for City on 15 July 2010, on a two-year contract, part of the deal saw City striker Cody McDonald going the other way on a season long loan.
