Sing Up The River End
Sing Up The River End' was a chant used by the Barclay Boys to get more noise and atmosphere at Carrow Road. Surely they knew people in the River End didn't go to football matches to sing !
Any City Supporter will not be disappointed

City News : Transfers Confirmed
|
| Posted by adm1n on 2010/7/15 18:28:30 (298 reads) |
All the speculation over Simeon Jackson's and Cody MacDonald transfers have been ended, with both clubs officialy announcing the deals. Simeon Jackson has completed his transfer to City for an undisclosed fee, on a two year deal with the option of another year. While Cody McDonald has joined League Two club Gillingham in a season-long standard loan deal.
Sure this will do Cody the world of good, it good turn out to be a win-win situation for both clubs, should Cody rediscovers his scoring touch; Gillingham will have a good striker on their hands, which in turn will mean City will be getting what is like a new player back at the end of the season. We wish Cody all the luck in the world and we will be keeping an eye on how things turn out for him. We also give a warm welcome to Simeon Jackson, hope you enjoy a successful time in the Green and Yella. |

City News : Has Jackson Signed.. ?

Has Simeon Jackson signed ? Well a report on a Gillingham web site says he has, Jackson has indeed signed for City in a deal with the initial fee of £600k, which could rise to 1 Million with addons, plus Cody McDonald is going the other way for a season long loan. The site further states that Jackson has flown out to Germany to join the rest of the City squad at thier camp.
We can neither prove nor disprove the story, we along with everyone else will have to wait for the Official statement.
Gills365
We have been informed that Jens Berthal Askou asked if he could stay behind in Norfolk while the rest of the squad traveled to Germany as his wife is very close to giving birth to their baby. Again we are only passing on what we have been told, despite other articles appearing on the web |

City News : One to Watch. Rooney

We all like to try and guess who we think our club will sign, several times we strike lucky and guess right other times we are well wide of the mark. I have done a little researching and have found one or two players who I feel may be worth keeping an eye on; first is Adam Rooney (no relation I believe)
Adam Rooney currently plays for Inverness Caledonian Thistle managed by Terry Butcher , as a striker, Rooney (age 22 Irish) started at Stoke progressing throuh the levels to the first team for a few games, he became their youngest player to score a hat trick against Brighton. He has spent loan time at Yeovil, Bury and Chesterfield before joing Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2008. In the 2009/10 season he was awarded the ‘Irn Bru Phenomenal’ player of the Year award. He was top scorer in the First Division with 24 goal and a League winners medal. Inverness Caledonian Thistle: 65 appearences 29 goals.
Playing for a Scottish team, would I am sure make him well known to Ewan Chester, knowing the way the big two work in Scotland would have had him watched more than once. he sounds the sort of player Lambert would go for, young but experienced, knows where the goal is and is keen and hungrey for success.
I am not saying this is a concrete target, just one who in my view may be worth keeping an eye out for. |

City News : Welcome Back Three Lungs

Welcome back Gary Holt, here to take up his new post as assistant academy manager.
Holt has worked with Lambert at Wycombe and Colchester and told the club's official website: "It's something I've been working towards as I've been doing my coaching badges, I'm on the way to getting my A licence. "I worked for Paul before, played against him and with him. It's always nice to work with people who you have a lot of respect for and I hold him in the highest regard." Academy manager Ricky Martin added: "To have Gary come on board is really good for the academy, a former player of the club who has embarked on his career as a coach and it's a good opportunity for him. I think he'll bring a lot to the group with his experiences, he's been a great professional footballer and it'll be a great opportunity for our academy players to work alongside him."
Welcome back to the City Gary, hope you are as successfull off the field as you were on it. |

City News : Thanks Fraser
|
| Posted by adm1n on 2010/7/9 12:30:26 (568 reads) |
If we still had any hopes of seeing Fraser Forster back at Carrow Road for this coming season I think that they can be squashed now, according to The Pink Un; the player has sent a message of thanks to City and it's supporters.
Saying: “I would like to thank everyone at Norwich City for my fantastic time there last season. “It was great to be part of a team that worked together to achieve promotion. I had hoped to be part of the team again. “Paul Lambert is a fantastic manager and I hope to have the opportunity to work with him in the future.” “The fans at Norwich are tremendous and I would like to thank them for all their support. I wish Norwich City every success this season,” he said.
He didn't give any reasons for not being able to return to Norfolk, as he left with the rest of the Newcastle squad for Dublin and their training Camp.
What a shame, it would have been excellent to get the lad back, who can blame Newcastle for their reluctence to let him out, without taking a good look themselves. He will, I am 100% sure of be an England keeper in the not too distant future if he can get a few premiership appearences to get noticed a little more. We have John Ruddy who hopefully will prove to equally as good or better than Forster. |

City News : Farewell Uncle Roy
|
| Posted by adm1n on 2010/7/7 9:30:55 (280 reads) |
So long to Uncle Roy Waller, the voice of Carrow Road passed away last night in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital after a long battle against illness. The 67-year-old retired from his long-running afternoon show on BBC Radio Norfolk last year and continued to present his country music show “Rodeo Norfolk” every Saturday until he had to stop due to ill-health.
I remember that Roy was always willing to take part in a couple of live web chats we held here on carrowroad.net and was always keen to know how we were doing.
He was in my eyes Mr Norwich City of the airwaves..
Our Sympathies, best wishes and thoughts go out to his wife Sylvie and all of his family.”

City News : Jackson Can leave if The price is Right
|
| Posted by adm1n on 2010/7/6 11:49:43 (590 reads) |
Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has not ruled out the possibility of Simeon Jackson leaving the club, Jackson a rumoured target of Paul Lambert has returned to training with the rest of The Gills squad, Millwall are also thought to be interested in taking jackson on board.
Scally will not do any business until a credible offer comes in. Speaking to the Kent Messenger: Scally said: "He is worth money but it's a question of what he is worth and we have had no credible offers so far. He's a great lad and we would wish him well if he did ever leave." He went on to add: "It's a bit of a balancing act and that is where the skill of the board comes in. We have never stood in someone's way who wants to move on and clearly he wants to play at a higher level, as will most of the team, and clearly he knows there is interest from some clubs. We just have to wait and see how the weeks progress." |

City News : Doherty Signs in at The Valley
|
| Posted by adm1n on 2010/7/6 11:42:44 (279 reads) |
As we hinted at yesterday Gary Doherty has signed a 2 year deal at Charlton.
Addicks boss Phil Parkinson said: "He's an experienced centre-back with great quality and I'm delighted he's agreed to join us. Of all the centre-backs out there in the summer he was the one I targeted. It's taken a while to do the deal for various reasons. "From day one, Gary expressed his interest in coming to Charlton. He wants to be a part of what we hope is going to be a successful season." We wish Gary all the success at his new club, if he serves Charlton as well as he has City, they have made an outstanding signing. |
