FA Youth Cup Champions... Norwich City

What a couple of wonderful days for Norwich City, yesterday the first team made sure of premiership football stayed at carrow Road. Tonight our under 18 continued the good work from the first leg of the F A Youth Cup by demolishing Chelsea on their on patch 4-2 on agg. Holding a slender goal advantage City coach Neil Adams knew they were going to be up against it, he devised a game plan, and his young players carried that plan out perfectly.

Goals from McGeehan again from the spot, a very well worked counter lead to Josh Murphy tapping in after being teed up by his twin brother, Jacob. Sandwiched in between was what has been given as an own goal, Josh Murphy’s wiggled around two defenders to fire in a hard and low cross which the home keeper deflected into his own net.

Chelsea scored a late consolation when Boga scored his second goal of the game.

A brilliant display and totally deserved victory and if I heard the two very biased commentators correctly, City are the first team to defeat Chelsea on their own pitch for 10 years at this level. the general feeling I got fom listening to them, was almost as if we weren't allowed to be on the same pitch, let alone win.

Can only be great for the players and the club

Now after the success of the first team yesterday, we just want our boys to hold onto or extend their lead tonight against Chelsea in the second leg of the FA Youth Cup final; to make a very memorable couple of days for City

Both teams are expected to be at full strength which means the Murphy twins will be out to terrorise Chelsea again as they did in the 1st leg and means a return to Stamford Bridge for City Captain, Gavin McGeehan.

Survival With Style

What a fantstic way to seal survival, one of the best displays anybody has seen, I say it eclipses the Arsenal and Manchester Utd results. All over the park City were simply too hot and too much for WBA to handle. The intent was there from the kick off and it never relented. even when coasting at 3-0 .

The fourth of the game, was absolute top class and very fitting to end the a top rate display. Beechio hadn't been on the pitch long but was running everywhere, he won a scrappy duel to feed Howson, who strode on as Becks had done then a one two together ending with a slide rule flick leaving Howson to curl a peach of a goal.

I have not been a big fan of Hughton and his style, but credit to him he has completed his brief and that is no smal feat. I would like to know why that sort of attacking intent was hidden until the last home game, perhaps..I say perhaps if it had been applied earlier in the season we may not have been sweating so much. But I am more than happy to say I got it wrong.

But full credit to all Coaches and players alike, a fantastic end at home for the season

O wow the biggest day for many a year is upon us, sadly due to ill health I will have to miss this, but will be watching on some stream I hope.

After the Manchester City final game, carrowroad.net will close, at the moment the forum will continue under new ownership, I am not clear what is to be done with this part of the site as yet.

I think it is time for someone new fresh to take over the reigns and take it onwards, if that is what they want to do, there is no money involved it isn't worth anything financially and if it was I would still be giving it away, It will be down to them as to what exactly happens and how they see things progressing.

I have enjoyed writing or should we say trying to write, it was never the idea to be perfect in anyway just get the news and views out there as quickly as we could. I know from the comments I have received many enjoyed reading the site while others were not so complimentary.

Thank you for support over the last 13 years ....

Now on to the match, there is no point going on and on, everybody knows what's needed, so it really leaves not a lot to say except come on you Yellas, and Lift the darn roof of the place.

Johnson Story.. McNally Denies

The rumours of Bradley Johnson move to the Vallly's of Wales continued yesterday being picked up by other agencies. City's CEO David McNally took to Twitter yesterday to deny the reports of the deal of £4.2 Million

He denied the Daily Mail Report as “completely untrue”. He added: “We are not in discussions with any club about the sale/potential sale of any first team player. OK?”

I have been around long enough now to know that while this may be true at the time McNally posted his tweet, it may not be the case a little later. The workings in bussiness mostly always go along the same line. A Story or Rumour appears which is Deniable, and more than not is denied; then when the heat has died down a little any deal or whatever can take place.

City may not be in any disussions at all, but that isn't to say Swansea has not approached City to test the water, also it does not confirm that City would not turn down an offer neither. It is often the case it is what is not said that is more revealing.

I have not doubts that this is just another case of Journalistic Elastic, and nothing of the sort is taking or about to take place. Johnson has had an excellent season and is a lot of supporters choice for the Barry Butler award.

I hope that this rumour will not effect Johno's game, he has been a vital cog in the wheels and need another top performence from him and his team mates. besides I don't want to see the lad sold, moved or anything.

Chris Martin has agreed to sign for Derby Country, officialy on July 1st after having agreed a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

City decided against taking up the option of a further year on his contract, which has allowed Martin to join the Rams on a free transfer.

Martin made hi City debut as a substitute against Wolves at Carrow Road in January 2007 In total he made 117 appearances scoring 34 goals in the process. 23 of his goals came in their 2009-10 League 1 title-winning campaign.

Good Luck to him perhaps he can go on to fulfill the potential he showed when he first hit the first team..

A massive big Thank You Swansea, beating Wigan 2-3, they have given us a little helping hand. Now it is down to City to go and put the points on the board.

Swansea's victory came at a cost keeper Vorm looked to be quite badly injured with what looked like a neck injury, he was down for a long tome with a phyiso holding his head still as possible until being strapped in a stretcher. We hope that there is nothing serious, and that it looked far worse than is.

What Is To Become of our Loaned Out Players

A couple of issues above and beyond the burning matter of staying in the premier league are going to crop up before the season does end. What does Hughton & Co do with two players who are both seemingly very wanted men.

Chris Martin and James Vaughan, two who play in a deptpartment where we have struggled to have an effect, strikers. I am not going to open the should they have been let go or not. But it would seem two clubs are more than keen to add these two to their respective squads.

If you can believe the press in Derby, that talks have opened with City for Chris Martin after The Rams manager Nigel Clough praised martin's efforts during his loan spell. Then a little further up the road Vaughan has been nothing but success for Huddersfield, leading scorer and player of the season, it would go without saying that any manager in that position would want to keep hold of him.

Mark Robins has confirmed in the local press that, he will speak to City regarding 2012-13 top-scorer Vaughan, a player he is desperate to sign permanently. It is also thought Derby are keen on Vaughan too, linking him with Martin.

With City's destination by no means certain, I hope that all talks are put on hold until our season is finished, there is no rush to get shot of anyone, that includes Declan Rudd, Korey Smith and Tom Adeyemi who have all been farmed out on loan to Preston, Doncaster and Brentford in order.

I think of Vaughan in particular, he was sent out to get pitch time and to prove he can deliver, while not leading the division's scoring charts his total is by no means to be sniffed at. Should the worst happen and City are relegated wouldn't Vaughan have more value to City than selling him for the amounts that have been branded about in the press. (£750K to £1Mill) He has not really had the chance to show us what he can do, through a terrible run of injuries and then just when he looked to be sharp he is loaned out.

Chris Martin has been an enigma, he started very brightly even Sir Alex was reported to be interested, he formed a very good partnership with Grant Holt in League 1, but hasn't been able to reproduce anything remotely similar. He has often made more headlines for his off the field activities than those on it. I feel he has had enough chances at City to prove what he can do, the time is here for a parting of the ways in the best interests of Player and Club.

I imagine and hope that all types of talks are on hold until we finish playing then the decisions can be made.

Gutted and Still Down This Morning.

Where on earth does anybody start to explain how they are feeling the day after a massive slice of hope was flushed down the pan. But there is still a little hope left to cling to, but a too big a chunk of this is left to lady luck and other teams, a position which isn't good to be in.

We have let opportunity after opportunity go by, games where we really should have had points have slipped by with just about eveybody saying "O well there is so and so coming up we have got to win that one" always looking to the next one, sadly there isn't endless games; the list of who left is about to run out.

Yesterday was a massive game that we NEEDED TO, and SHOULD have won or at the very least acceptable a draw. Now it all hinges on the WBA game and hope above all that others slip up. Can anyone really put their hands on their heart and say they expect City to get something at Manchester City., I think we can almost discount that game.

I have been worried all season by our lack of creativity and goals, Hughton has harped on about this over the season and seemingly has done very little to address the problem. It was there as clear as the nose on your face during the friendly games, that this would be a problem if left......but it isn't always wise to read too much into that type of game. But never the less the problems were ther and now at the other end of the season are still there..

Hughton's answer is to play a solitary striker who was often cut off from his team mates, while the rest of the team was charged with defending, something that often didn't work either. He tried to address the problem during January by seemingly chasing a player who was playing in what has become a one team league.

Then to bring in two players, one who was perhaps used in the deal, more to off load a player than for his own skills. The other straight from the MLS, who in truth was always going to struggle in the Premier League and a relegation Cauldron to boot. Such a gamble and one that hasn't worked as many expected except those managing our club.

People moan and groan about Holt not scoring along with a hundred and one other things, but there is always another side to any story.. If I say Silk Purse may help.

We know the players in the squad are limited in what they can do when compared to what mega bucks can buy. But they are honest, solid and dependable players and have done their level best for this club and it's fans. I still believe they are good enough to hold their own.

Hughton & Co are supposed to know their players, if after nearly a season they still don't, then they are in the wrong business; but I know and many more of you the reader, knows that you cannot get a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Why has he continued game after game to squeeze players into mould they clearly don't fit , still bewilders me, if that isn't enough he has no other plan or he leaves it until we are almost dead and buried in the game to even make a player change.

Doesn't the amount of wins we have in 2013, tell him there is something not working and changes are needed ?

There is one game left where we have a realistic chance of getting something from that will get us over the 40 point line, which may not be enough, leaving us then to sit back and use whatever ever lucky charm we put faith in to make us safe.

It really should not have come to this.

Our greatest moments at home came against two top teams, while the teams we should have taken points from escaped with some, that;s why we are where we are today, looking in the void that is the championship. We shot ourselves in the foot somewhat yesterday, Villa weren't that good surprisingly after hammering Sunderland, but good enough to hold on and beat us.

Lambert got it right yesterday, his players stuck to their game plan and it worked, it wasn't some secret new tactic but it might have been to our management team as they had no answer to it. We dominated for long periods playing some very good football, but with no end result; which is what I mentioned earlier has been the problem from day one. Caught on a fast break once should be enough, but to get caught twice by the same player, is nowhere near good enough.

I am not going to point fingers at players for mistakes or not doing something they should have, that happens in just about every game of football that is played at any level. But I will question again the changes yesterday along with timing once again; Hoolahan was about the only one who could have done something to turn it round to our favour, yet he is taken off for a below standard player who really isn't a striker and is packing his bags to return to the States.

While our own strikers sit in the stands or on the bench not getting any game time not being match fit, it was pretty clear Kamra wasn't the answer, yet he has been persisted with ahead of our own strikers.

Then what on earth was the Jackson change about Desperation or to be seen as doing something? I always thought the winning team made changes during added time to help run the clock down, a side chasing the game normally makes the changes with more time to go to give the players more of a chance to get in and make an impact.

But that hasn't been the Hughton way all season and again something else that hasn't changed despite the plight we are in Desperate times call for Desperate measures, but what do we see the same old same old.

We saw that when the players decide to take matters into their own hands a litle and go for the win it can work; I am thinking of the Everton game. Hughton said after that game that he was undecided whether to shut up and hang onto the point, but the players had other ideas.

They know what they can do better than anyone else, but I do believe we seeing frustration in the players faces, let them loose and have a go, If we are going to go down let's for christ sake go down fighting not seeking meeky behind a defensive wall.

We along with others have rang the warning bells many times over the season, we had many arguments on carrowroad.net over everything , battle lines have been formed and as classed +Positives and -Negatives, but that really can achieve little only lose or weaken friendships.

We can argue the toss until we turn green and yellow in the face. The fact of the matter we are where we are not by choice, we have one chance left where we have a modicum of say in proceedings, we can do no more than sing, shout and make a lot of fecking noise, and hope to flcuk they can do it.

****Hopefully the club and local newspapers will see the fans of Norwich City do not need a false whipping up, a parade of old stars and bloody clapper things used as an advertising gimmick, to get us going.

We have been termed fantastic supporters for years, we have lifted the roof off Carrow Road and other stadiums over the country. All without this false whipped up stuff.

If you cannot see and agree, then all what has been said has been false

Please leave it the Fans they have never let any Norwich City team down who are fighting
